The State of West Bengal has many colleges offering Under Graduate Programs in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture. Also there are many universities in West Bengal with faculty in above mentioned study disciplines. These institutions comes under the administration of Government of West Bengal. While quality standard of technical education is governed by institutes like All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Council of Architecture (COA) and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) etc.
For admission to Under Graduate Programmes in Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture across all colleges that comes under government of state entrance examination is administered. Candidates with pass in Class 12th Examination preferably with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics can write entrance test called WBJEE. This selection test is organized by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB). Admission is offered on the basis of merit.
