PUMDET 2018: Presidency University Master Degree Entrance Test

Presidency University Master Degree Entrance Test (PUMDET 2018)  is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). On the basis of score in PUMDET seats are offered in various Post Graduate(PG) degree courses in the Presidency University (PU) Kolkata.

Seat Reservation: Presidency University (Kolkata) Post Graduate (PG) Admission 2018


Reservation of Seats for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD (earlier Physically Handicapped) category of students as per Govt. of India norms.
Reservation will be available for candidates with 40% to 70% disabilities of following types subject to the condition that the candidate is capable of carrying out all activities related to theory and practical work as applicable to the courses without any special concession and exemption. The same will be verified by the counseling authority and their decision will be final.

ii. Locomotor disability in lower limb
iii. Visual Impairment
iv. Hearing impairment
v. Speech and language disability

PUMDET 2018 Eligibility Criteria


Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India.
Age Limit:There is no lower or upper age limit of candidates applying for PUMDET 2018
Educational Qualification
i. Candidate should have successfully completed (not before 2017) or appeared in their B.A. (Hons)/B.Sc. (Hons) examination in the year 2018 from any recognized University.
ii. Candidates, who have appeared for their B.A. (Hons)/B.Sc. (Hons) final examination and the results are awaited at the time of counselling will have to mandatorily produce their original mark sheets/grade cards of all semester/annual examinations passed at the Bachelor’s level. Such candidates must fulfill the academic eligibility norms for their applied courses.
iii. Candidates, who have appeared for their final B.A. (Hons)/B.Sc. (Hons)examination, but do not have their final results at the time of counselling, will be given provisional admission, on the basis ofproduction of their previous mark sheets/grade cards of all previous semester/annual examinations at their Bachelor’s level.
iv. The candidate shall also produce a certificate in original from his/her Head of the Institution; last attended stating that he/she has appearedin his/her final examination in 2018.
However they must submit their final mark sheet by 31st August2018, demonstrating that they fulfil the minimum conditions of eligibility, failing which their admission will stands cancelled.

PUMDET 2018 Examination Schedule


The tests schedule is givenin the admit card.No further examination shall be held under any circumstances for those who will be unable to appear on the above scheduled date and time.

PUMDET 2018 Pattern of Question Papers


The Question papers on English, Bengali and Hindi will be in their respective languages. However, all other papers will be in English only.
All questions will be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type with four options against each of the questions. There will be a total of 50questions in each paper with full marks 100 and time allotted will be 90minutes.

PUMDET 2018 Scoring Methodology


i) All questions will have four answer options each
ii) Only one out of four options is correct
ii) Correct response carries 2 mark each
iv) -1/2 (25% negative) marks will be deducted for each incorrect response
v) For any combination of response with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -1/2 (25% negative) marks
vi) No marks will be deducted for unattempt questions

PUMDET 2018 Ranking Methodology and publication of Merit Lists


Based on the candidates’ score in the entrance tests, WBJEEB will publish a merit rank list. The List shall be in the name and style of ‘GMR’ (General Merit Rank). The ranking in the merit list shall be done in the descending order of marks scored in the entrance test. There will be separate reserved category ranks viz. SC-Rank, ST-Rank, OBC-A-Rank, OBC-B-Rank, PwD-Rank will be published for respective category of students. The ‘GMR’ shall only be applicable for sequencing the counselling and seat allotment. Category ranks are prepared only for sequencing the deserving candidates within the respective category.

PUMDET 2018 Tie–breaking Methodology


In case of tie between the score of two candidates, the candidate obtaining less negative score will have better rank. However, if tie exists still thereafter, all such candidates will be awarded the same rank and will be considered for counselling and admission with bunching effect.

How to pay PUMDET 2018 Fees


Candidates are required to pay an amount of Rs. 500 plus the Bank’s Service Charges as applicable for appearing in the PUMDET 2018.
The Examination Fees can be paid by ‘Net Banking’/ ‘Debit Card’/ ‘Credit Card’. The fee once paid is not refundable under any circumstances.

PUMDET 2018 Admit Card


Candidates can generate their admit cards on the notified date from the official website and take a print. Candidate are required to carry a printed hard copy of the admit card to the examination centre.

PUMDET 2018 Evaluation and Declaration of Result


a) Candidates will receive the final results published in the form of Rank Cards, which will contain all relevant ranks and total score. Rank cards will be available only from the portal www.result.shiksha
b) Candidates will be able to view and download their rank card by logging in with login id password.
