PUBDET 2018: Presidency University Bachelor Degree Entrance Test

The Presidency University Bachelor Degree Entrance Test i.e. PUBDET 2018 is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). On the basis of score in PUBDET score seats are offered in various Under Graduate (UG) degree courses in the Presidency University (PU), Kolkata.

  • On-line registration and payment of registration fees by the candidates eligible for counselling (as per list available at official website www.wbjeeb.in) in the first round: 11th July, 2018 to 16th July, 2018 (up to 12:00 noon)First round counselling and provisional admission: 17th July, 2018 to 20th July, 2018 (as per Schedule available in the Board’s website)
  • Final vacancy list to be published: 17th August, 2018
  • Fresh registration, if needed (as per the list to be available at official website) for the second round: 18th August, 2018 to 20th August, 2018
  • Second round counselling: 22nd August, 2018 to 23rd August, 2018

Reservation of Seats: Presidency University (PU) Kolkata Under Graduate Admission 2018


The reservation of seats are applicable for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD (earlier Physically Handicapped) category of students as per Govt. of India norms.
Reservation of seats for PwD (Persons with Disabilities)/ PC (Physically Challenged)/ PH (Physically Handicapped) candidates
Reservation will be available for candidates with 40% to 70% disabilities of following types subject to the condition that the candidate is capable of carrying out all activities related to theory and practical work as applicable to the courses without any special concession and exemption. The same will be verified by the counseling authority and their decision will be final.

ii. Locomotor disability in lower limb
iii. Visual Impairment
iv. Hearing impairment
v. Speech and language disability

PUBDET 2018 Eligibility Criteria


Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India.
Age Limit:There is no lower or upper age limit of candidates applying for PUBDET 2018
Educational Qualification:
i.The candidates must have successfully completed (not before 2017) or appeared (in2018) in their Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 system) conductedby the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal, or any equivalent examination with atleast five recognized subjects (full marks not less than 100), including English language.
ii. Candidates with International ‘A’ level or International Baccalaureate (IB) qualifications, must have at least three subjects at the IGCSE level and three subjects at the ‘A’ level, with English in either of the two levels.
iii. The candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate percentage score in his/her qualifying examination in 12th standard as given below:

PUBDET 2018 Pattern of Question Papers


The question paper for PUBDET 2018 will be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type, with four options against each of the questions. There will be 50 (fifty) questions in each paper with full marks 100 and time allotted will be 90 minutes.
The question papers for the subjects English, Bengali and Hindi will be in respective languages.  The Questions on Logical reasoning will be in English only.All other papers will be in English and Bengali languages.


PUBDET 2018 Scoring Methodology


i) All questions will have four answer options each
ii) Only one out of four options is correct
ii) Correct response carries 2 mark each
iv) -1/2 (25% negative) marks will be deducted for each incorrect response
v) For any combination of response with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -1/2 (25% negative) marks
vi) No marks will be deducted for unattempt questions

PUBDET 2018 Ranking Methodology and publication of Merit Lists


Based on the candidates’ score in the entrance tests, WBJEEB will publish a merit rank list. The List shall be in the name and style of ‘GMR’ (General Merit Rank). The ranking in the merit list shall be done in the descending order of marks scored in the entrance test. There will be separate reserved category ranks viz. SC-Rank, ST-Rank, OBC-A-Rank, OBC-B-Rank, PwD-Rank will be published for respective category of students. The ‘GMR’ shall only be applicable for sequencing the counselling and seat allotment. Category ranks are prepared only for sequencing the deserving candidates within the respective category.

PUBDET 2018 Tie–breaking Methodology


In case of tie between the score of two candidates, the candidate obtaining less negative score will have better rank. However, if tie exists still thereafter, all such candidates will be awarded the same rank and will be considered for counselling and admission with bunching effect.

How to pay PUBDET 2018 Fees


Candidates are required to pay an amount of Rs. 500 plus the Bank’s Service Charges as applicable for appearing in the PUBDET 2018.
The Examination Fees can be paid by ‘Net Banking’/ ‘Debit Card’/ ‘Credit Card’. The fee once paid is not refundable under any circumstances.

PUBDET 2018 Admit Card


Candidates can generate their admit cards on the notified date from the official website and take a print. Candidate are required to carry a printed hard copy of the admit card to the examination centre.

PUBDET 2018 Evaluation and declaration of result


a) Candidates will receive the final results published in the form of Rank Cards, which will contain all relevant ranks and total score. Rank cards will be available via portal www.result.shiksha
b) Candidates will be able to view and download their rank card by logging in with login id password.
