Sidho Kanho Birsha University

Sidho Kanho Birsha University established in 2010 is named after three illustrious tribal leaders - Sidho, Kanho and Birsha Munda. They were brave enough to master courage and fight against British imperialist oppression. This University is a result of a log standing dream of the people of Purulia to have a University which is moulded in tune with their own ideas and philosophy and yet delivering higher education in tune with global standards. Because of such efforts the university has been able to garner faith and trust among the local people and have been able to draw students from the tribal community to pursue higher education.It aims to provide higher learning among the youth in backward and tribal areas and making them employable in today's job market. Its certificate course in lac and chau has therefore gained popularity among the youth.
