Diamond Harbour Women's University

Diamond Harbour Women’s University was established on 28th January 2013. Realising the need for a long standing womenonly university in th region, the Government of West Bengal decided to open a women only university to promote higher education among girls in the region. Keeping the geographical and cultural background in mind, the University provides teaching, training and research opportunities to the girl students of the region and nearby locality. With every passing year, the University hopes to attract more women from around the city and state as well.

Diamond Harbour Women’s University began functioning from the academic year 2014-2015 with the introduction of 2- year, 4- semester PG courses in six subjects; Bengali, English, History, Political Science, Education and Women’s Studies. The teaching programmes in the University are designed to empower students towards fulfilling their dreams and aspirations.

Admission to Diamond Harbour Women’s University

Online admission to Post Graduate courses of the academic year commences from the third week of June and continues till mid July. The last date of submission of application fees at any SBI branch is usually in the third week of July.

Ph D Admission to Diamond Harbour Women’s University

Applications are invited from women candidates willing to take admission to the M.Phil and Ph.D programme. Candidates should have a Master’s degree in her own discipline or in an equivalent

subject and should have secured at least 55% marks. There will be a relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled candidates.

Admission to Ph.D. programme is on the basis of RET and it is to be conducted by the concerned department followed by an interview for the candidates qualifying in RET. However, candidates who have qualified NET/SLET/SET/GATE or any other equivalent examinations are exempted from RET and can appear in the interview.
