The University of Burdwan

The University of Burdwan was founded by Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy on 15th June 1960 . It was part of his master plan to expand the scope of higher education beyond the metropolis.It started with six postgraduate departments and thirty undergraduate colleges in the districts of Purulia, Birbhum, Bankura, Burdwan and Hooghly. The University of Burdwan has emerged as one of the premier institutions of higher education in India.

The University of Burdwan offers Undergraduate Degrees in Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Music, with programs in Law and Medical. Students may choose to study in Undergraduate courses spread accross 230 colleges.

Burdwan University also provides Distance mode of learning, incase one cannot complete his or her full time studies.
